saildrive Barnacles

My neighbours but has been lifted this week. Have a volvo saildrive 2004, was antifouled?? 15 Months ago, the hull is pretty clean but the saildrive has barnacles the size of snails as does the prop.
Any advice as to best product and would the saildrive have been chemically coated from new other than anodised prior to coating. Therefore important not to remove the existing products down to bare metal.

The housing is aluminium. Must not use copper based AF. Most use one of the AF formulations specifically for aluminium. See manufacturers information. Do not take off the original coating. Make sure the anode is OK, and replace iif necessary. All in the engine handbook. Any AF unlikely to last reliably for 15 months.
