Hi,

Can anyone suggest a good place in Scotland to get my sail repaired as some of the stitching was pulled out after being jammed on the spreader and it started falling apart.

Plus i have an old sprayhood which needs attention and i am unsure whether it needs replaced or can be rejuvenated. There is still a view out the window and this is making me think that it can be repaired. I am unsure how much it would cost to get a new one made. It would be good to know of someone to take them to who will give an honest opinion and won't fleece me.

Thanks

Abestea

On price you will struggle to beat Forth Marine Textiles.
Address: Unit 79 Miller Road, Dunfermline KY12 9DL
Tel: 01383 622444
Pinning him down to a time may be another matter... but from Airdrie would be worth taking the job to him.

Since you seem to be Clyde based, Jessail, (Google) is a possibillity. They're situated a short distance from Clyde Marina. Glasgow St. Ardrossan

Saturn Sails at Largs Marina offer these services. They can be quite at this time of the year. I recently had a quote for a dinghy bag with features for tying down to my deck, mesh drainage, big zips, handles £70 all in as an example of price.

You should also try a local upholsterers. They can easily mend an existing item using their heavy duty machines. That might be more cost effective.

Another vote for Saturn, last year they completely renewed the stitching on my sprayhood which had degraded after nine years in the baking West of Scotland sun! Pretty much like new, and with new see through panels - reasonable price too.
