I am trying to find Zorina's original sail Number, she is a 1967 Kim Holman 36 ft one tonner.
I have spoken to Holman and Pye, RYA, ROCC but am getting no joy. Any ideas?

The 1970 Lloyd's RoY lists her as sail No 396 as well, and owned by a Mr Richard P. Farkas of London, home Port Rochester.
Build info:- Thames Marine Ltd & Tucker Brown Ltd. at Canvey Island & Burnham-on-Crouch 1976
Her engine was a Petrol 4Cy 30BHP Wortham Blake.
I hope this is of use to you.

Thank you.

Where / how do you see these RoY?

Do you think I can use that number now. Should it have a 'K' or 'GBR' suffix?

Its not an RORC number though.

My parents boat is 871 and that was registered in 1947.

The RoY I have I bought at the Beaulieu Boat Jumble a few years ago for very little money. I have heard that Southampton Library has every one that was published but have no first hand experience of the fact.

The answer to your other questions will have to come from someone much more knowledgeable than me!

The Maritime Library's at port city's like Southampton and Liverpool will have all the (Lloyd's Register of Yachts) where you can check up on the history of owners and changes to the rig engine etc. (if the yacht was registered of course). As to the sail Number I think you would be entitled to use it if you wish, I don't think a sail number is unique and a suffix as I understand is only if she is a class boat. My yachts number in 1905 was 26 and it is still clearly displayed on her mainsail. I can only think it originated from the sailing club where the yacht first sailed.
Some one may be able to explain it better for us.

Thanks again.

I have now spoken to RORC who have 396 registed to Zorina, which means I can use it with a GBR or K, I think I might go for the K.

Good to here that. Just go's to show how well an old system works.
I am now encouraged to make some enquires about my boats number and have it confirmed as up to date. as I said is has been in use on her for so long so I automatically assumed it is still valid as her number.
Thank you for your follow up, and better late than never welcome to the forums enjoy.
