I've been fiddling around with a Reed's sewing machine for a few years, but now have some proper sail repairs to undertake.

What recommendations for a book please ?

TIA

I have a copy of Jeremy Howard-Williams Third edition,(circa 1973) book, 'Sails',which was a classic at the time containing lots of examples and cures for differing ills with the shape and efficiency of new sails and the repair of used sails that suffer from stretched leach or bagginess, or modification of existing sails. Not a lot of info regarding actual machine work but plenty information there with illustrations.
I got mine from the charity shop for a quid, but I'm sure there will be it and others on Ebay - or perhaps in YBW 'For Sale' thread.

No doubt other sailmaker/sailors have produced thier tomes, maybe Bruce Bank Sails,or Mustos for instance.

Having just busted ' her indoor's' Brother machine I've had to get another recon Toyota
that I may be allowed to use in the future for canvas work.

I too would like the know how of developing the curve needed for the panels which are done by computers nowadays; I used to make sails for 1Metre model yachts from Melinex film(Drawing film) that seemed so straightforward and worked OK, but scaled up would be another ballgame I think!
