Considering a new main for our 10 m cruiser out here in Castellan .
Forum advice is often to look for a local who will measure and check the fit.
Any one used a sail maker out here or other advise welcome.
Do makers quote the thread count of their recommended sail cloth?
Thanks as ever.

Thread count is relatively unimportant. There is a range of cloths available depending on your needs and depth of pocket. Suggest you get on the websites of the big sailmakers such as Kemps, crusader, Saunders etc, which all have good information on the different materials and cuts available.

Almost certainly will be better to buy in the UK as the market here is so competitive. Although good to have a local measure, a good sailmaker here will probably have details of your boat on file and will provide you with a template to measure your boat as a check.

Hi
I am looking for a new Genoa for my Beneteau Oceania 40 in Valencia and contacted Sobstat/Elvestrom in Valencia for a quote but also had a quote from Crusader in the U.K.
Elvestrom are made in Denmark not Spain? Repairs done locally.
I don't know of any local sailmaker in Valencia that has a fully fitted sail loft.
Doesn't mean that there aren't any, but also I don't have good experience of local canvas work!
Always get a few quotes is my recommendation..due to Brexit UK prices quite good ATM!
