So...I use Trilux as recommended - but it really is not much good, by far the worst part of the boat when we lifted last week, the rest of the hull away from sunlight was quite good - that is for the muddy east coast. any better solutions out there? Can I use ordinary antifoul now the copper has gone? Or is that stil not recommended?

The saildrive must have a aluminium primer first and then the Proper Aluminium ant-foul paint.

We sanded ours then got the spray primer put on two coats followed by two coats of the correct anti-foul paint. Sorry cannot remember the names of the paint. We are in CRETE and it was from the local paint shop.

Surprised about that. Trilux generally works well, but does not always stick well on an existing housing (ie not a new one) without proper preparation.
