havn't had any replies to my earlier post regarding Clipper Canvas so I thought I would try a new post title to elicit some responses!! I am looking for information/experience from anyone with knowledge of Hayward's Clipper canvas sail cloth. We are building a 42' Alden malabar II schooner (I am located in Australia) and want to use Clipper Canvas for the sails. Information here even from the sailmakers is limited and as there is only a sprinkling of traditional or classic boats about, the demand for the traditional cloth as such is extremely minimal. All comments would be appreciated. Thank you. Bernadette.

I've limited experience - just a jib for a traditionally rigged dayboat. Nicer than other types of Terylene/Dacron, but the sail is only months old and is for a small boat so my experience would not really be much use to you. It is not as nice to handle as real cotton canvas (why dry!)

I cannot help with Clipper Canvas, as I've personally never heard of it. However, Oceanus, from North lofts appears to be the Bee's Knees for yachts like yours. There is bound to be a North Loft somewhere here , if only in Sydney! [I'm in Melbourne].
Peter.
