Hydrozoan

A few years back, our newish furling genoa - and its white UV strip particularly - was subject to what appeared to be bad sooty / hydrocarbon streaking (from docks, I suspect, and perhaps largely from a single emission event). Neither my own careful detergent cleaning nor professional sail valeting made much of an impression on it, and I was resigned to living with it until a new sacrifical strip was needed.
Reading here about Biotex enzymatic stain remover, I thought I'd give it a try this year on both main and genoa, hoping to deal with 'ordinary' dirt but without expecting much impact on the sooty bits. The main came out looking very good and, after an overnight soak and wet brushing, the sooty bits of the genoa are very much cleaner. It's not perfect, but it's a huge improvement, and I have high hopes that another application of a hot solution of Biotex to the worst remaining areas may do even better. Even if it does not, the outcome has been very pleasing indeed.
My sincere thanks to all those who have posted here recommending Biotex.
No connection etc., except as a very satisfied customer.
