I have strange (to me) full length batten fittings to my Saunders cruising mainsail (Sanders kindly found me a spare one some years ago in somebody's drawer but they're apparently long obsolete)
I had another one break during my recent cruising holiday and need to come up with a solution, which currently is making some spares myself - I'm trying to avoid spending £300/£400 + or more to get the battens pockets somehow remade on an otherwise good condition sail and also have to replace the batten cars.
The screw piece is aluminium with an M16 X 2.0 thread and the housing, which screws through a cringle is some kind of plastic, the battens are 10mm diameter rod
Just wondered if there are any plastics experts that could advise what kind of plastic would be most UV resistant to use ?
