Sadler 32 coach roof

I want to instal a winch on the coach roof adjacent to the companion way hatch.
Existing winches are in place but without access to attach nuts to screws I assume they are located in tapped holes.
Do I need to drill and tap to fix the new winch?

Sadler typically moulded aluminium.plates into their deck and coachroof, then drilled and tapped them for fittings. You can detect the extent of the plates using a domestic metal detector.

Thanks for that - I had a hunch it would be something like that but just wanted to double check with the forum before I started drilling holes.

Take care you don't drill right down through the cabin liner....unless you want to.

Luckily I had a mate with just the right shade of gelcoat.
