The sadler 26 seems to have a good pedigree, but a recent YM survey article seemed to infer that as it had BK's it suffered from a lack of stiffness. The boat I looked at (1983) had signs of the dreaded boat pox and needs treatment in the next 2-3 years. Any views on these issues and any general views from owners would be gratefully received?

We used to own a Sadler 26 with twin keels (she's to good to be called a 'bilge keeler'). A lovely boat that helped us learn to sail. Not only do they sail well but SWMBO just loved the cabin! She was kept on a drying mooring with no problems, the boat that is not SWMBO!

When we bought the boat she had osmosis, this was reflected in the price and was treated before we started using her. The only area that concerned me was the stancions that plugged into the GRP of the deck, with people pulling on these, like they do, cracking will appear, this will let water into the foam core if not treated.

Sadler 26, still talked about, with great affection.

The S 29 has the same stantion sockets set in the deck moulding, but havn't experienced any cracking problems (20 years). However the socket inserts are now UV deteriorating and replacements (from Mike Lucas) are a shocking £20 aprox each. Generally though very happy with the boat. (I expoxied it from new).
