Hi I have decided to look for a sadler 25 b/k after much talking etc. When I find one and given the age of the model does anyone know of any problems that might be apparent before I get a surveyor involved and is it true that a lot of these boats where sold as kits and finished off at home.thanks

Yes many were sold as kits. If I remeber correctly it was posible to buy them in almost any state from bare hull to fully completed.

You will have to assess the standard of fitout for yourself. Some will have been fitted out with factory produced interior joinery but others, I think, will have been completed to their owners own designs.

We had a Sadler 25 b/k once. She was called GEM and she took us from the Solent to Falmouth and the Scillies, Brittany, Channel Isles - all the usual places. Great boat and she took us through some big seas. Power was a Petter Mini Twin which didn't have a lot of poke on the prop that we had at the time.

Regards things to look for - nothing more to add to what others have said. Look very carefully at the condition of the boat and all her gear. Older boats often need lots of money spent on them which you don't always budget for. (Got the medal for this one several times over...)
