Sad News from Stornoway Coastguard

Tragic, but at least they were out there rather than pissing their pants in an old folks home. Respect to them both!

I'd rather go that way. It's sad, but amazingly impressive.

Sad.

Although not a boating accident, as such, I make that the 12th 'leisure' death reported by the MCGA in the last two months.

01-May Liverpool 2 Overdue 18' Lug Dory - 1 body recovered, 1 missing
28-May Thames 3 Yacht Level Four overdue - 3 missing
04-Jun-07 Stornoway 1 13yr old canoeist missing
10-Jun-07 Solent 2 Bodies of father & toddler recovered
12-Jun-07 Stornoway 1 Yachtsman lost overboard - 1 body recovered
22-Jun-07 Brixham 1 Owner of Hookie II drowned - 1 body recovered
26-Jun-07 Stornoway 1 Fell from shore - 1 body recovered

As well as 2 incidents which may yet have people involved.

This is scary.

And how may are alcohol related?

A sad event, but huge respect to the lady.

Please let me still be sailing in beautiful places when I'm 82. Especially if my wife still wants to come.

Very sad but at least the old boy died doing what he enjoyed the most....sailing and walking, and I guess if you were to choose a spot that you were to pass away in I guess there could be worse places!

Paul.

Think you're right Jim. I've a feeling he wrote the SMC Guide to the Islands (my copy is still in storage).

EDIT: Your later post confirmed. Quit a man, and his wife seems remarkable too.
