Well, after two great years of owning Trick or Treat, my Fairline Targa 37, she is going to her new owner tomorrow. We finished clearing all our stuff off her this evening and I confess to leaving with a tear in my eye.

We've had a fab time with her, a veritable blizzard of memories, from the delivery trip back from Weymouth to Brighton, to our summer holiday on board last year, and loads of short trips to the solent, including our last (day) trip to Cowes on Saturday just past.

I sold her privately, and I was slightly caught by surprise at how quickly she went - I put her up for sale mid-March, and she went under offer at the end of April. Based on what others had said, I had expected her to be on the market for a year - not six weeks.

Anyway - here's to my lovely boat, and I wish her new owners as many happy times as we have had.

Cheers
Jimmy

So when does the new one arrive? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

A sad day I'm sure but if you are going for another i'm sure it will be just as great!

Chris

Hi jimmy, felt just the same a few weeks ago, only my last trip out was up the trent! anyway hang on to your memories it was obviously a great boat just shows that good clean boats sell fast and you dont always need to pay a broker to sell either. Good luck with charters and the new sun tan!.

very evocative - wake disappearing off into the distance, setting sun, neatly framed.

Going to pick up another while you are down SofF on the bike ?

Hi Tim

No - the SoF thing is work, I'm going to be there from next Friday until the beginning of July, then again in August and again again in September. Hoping to fit a med charter in at some point July-ish.

The picture was taken on Saturday afternoon on the run back from Cowes.

Chris - go on son, only four more! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Trev - Heidi was properly taken with your 41 when we saw you at the Hamble Point thing the other week there. I'm going to try and arrange the September trip to Antibes to coincide with the Cannes show so that we can have a look at the whole range.

And Paul, cheers for the nice words, good luck with your own search, hope the 400 works out for you.

Cheers

Jimmy, good luck with the new boat search!

If you charter in SoF in August, make sure you have a float down my river and anchor in the bay or Port Grimaud for a while, might see you whilst driving round - i'll stick my burgee on /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Cheers

Cheers Chris - will do.

Not planning to replace the boat until next season - plenty of time to investigate and make the right choice! (What I really, really want is a Predator 56, but that's another story altogether....)

Cheers

Don't lie, you know the saying... 2 happiest days of owning a boat..... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I think you put together a damn good ad, Jimmy. That, a sensible price and a good boat.. I m not surprised it sold promptly. Just shows...
Well, done on that. Now then, the only cure for losing her, is to start the hunt! Took me 18 months to find the next boat, but then sold the other in 3 weeks. You d better get looking right away!!

Hi Gavin

Thanks for all that. This is the third boat I've told privately - the previous two were an 18 foot Searay, and then the 24 foot Regal. Curiously I got more enquiries on the T37 than either of the previous boats, and she sold more quickly than either of them as well.

On the pricing - I took the advice of another forumite about private sales - he said that when selling privately, he took the brokers commission out of the price, ie he passed it on to the buyer which made the pricing more competitive. That was my approach.

All I've got to do now is come up with a new avatar!

Cheers
Jimmy

I know the feeling well its very sad to see your pride & joy go, don’t worry though you will be keeping your hand in with the chartering plus don’t forget this year we will have the London Boat show & the new Earls court show just to keep your interest going & to help you depart with the money that will be by then burning a hole in your pocket. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Hi Jim.

I would have to say I too am sorry that you have no boat at the moment........But on a selfish note, talking to you and the info you gave me regarding buying a T-37 myself was fantastic. The broker route was full of lies, and you scrutinised all the guff on my behalf, despite me never getting to veiw yours. Rob, will Im sure be going through similar feelings when we complete on Pipedream, maybe this weekend!

The point I am trying to make is, Thanks for your help, thanks for proving that private boat sales is the way to go, and with yours and Robs adverts for T-37's thanks for wetting the appetite enough to finally make my wife and I buy one ourselves! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks again Jim, You know where to find us if you fancy a spin out sometime.

Regards
Jas.

Hi Jason

You're very welcome, give me a shout if there's anything else you need to know. They are great boats and I'm sure you'll have fun with yours.

All the best
Jimmy

Hi Jimmy
Good news on the sale but sad news to let a trusted boat go. I wish I had known you were in Cowes on Saturday, you could have come up to the Folly pontoons and joined us for a drink. I'm sure the opportunity will arise when you can come for a trip on a Flybridge boat with the Wokingham crowd. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
See you soon
Cheers

Hi Derek

That is a shame - we were at East Cowes marina until 4pm; we basically flipped a coin on whether to go up to the Folly, or go for a meander round the IW coast - and we did the latter. Never mind - next time!

I'll miss the next Wokingham drink, but hopefully catch up with you and the rest of the gang at the one after (late July, I guess?).

cheers
Jimmy
