I have just bought a new boat with a Sabb inboard - can anyone tell me where I can find an agent for parts close to Hampshire? Is there anything I need to know about the engine to ensure it runs well?

Thanks for your help.

further to my earlier post
my sabb is 30 years old, starts easily ,now i,ve fitted a preheater probe. done away with the starter cigarettes.use plenty of oil in the piston top ,especially if its been stood for a long period.(to enhance the compression).make sure the access is good for the water pump (port side low down).make sure you have a spare diaphragm for the water pump and that the bolts are not corroded. Its possible to hand start, but you need a trip system for the valve lifters.
no oil filters only a strip of brown paper.and a chug chug sound that is unique.
good luck,

When I had a Sabb 10, the best engineer I found was John Cutler at Emsworth. He fully serviced and re-fitted the engine and gave good advice. One of the old school, a Sabb agent who knows his engines and gives excellent customer service. Tell him I sent you! 01243 375014

As mentioned by bryantee, their only UK agent is Sabb(UK) South, at the address given. They are very helpful and will send instruction manuals with exploded diagrams, parts lists, information on the fuel system, water pumps, etc.. Parts are available by mail order. I have a 6/8hp HG model. If you didn't know, these engines are Norwegian, and its worth looking at the manufacturer's website, www.sabb.no.
