S3Raymarine Smartpilot course computer + ST7000 control head - compatible??

I am close to buying a Raymarine S3 Smartpilot Course Computer but need to find out if it will work with my old ST7000 control unit. (The latest SPX course computers seem to need the latest ST7002 control units at £500 a time).

The commisioning manula mentions ST7001, but does not say it wont work with an ST7000.

Unfortunatley it wont work as you will not be able to calibrate the system with the ST7000.

As an addition... a kind ebay seller tested his S3 computer with an ST7000 control head. Whilst it will control the computer, you cant enter the calibration mode.

On the other thread - our existing computer is now fixed, so the issue has gone away - touch wood
