i've got a6 props on my s28 and have heard they are a little underpropped. i think this is true as with a clean hull 4k rpm is reached no problem, even after season of fouling i can get near 4k rpm.
so should / could i get my props altered towards a7 pitch..?
also i antifoul my props where i see other people dont...
if i dont are they not going to get barnacled up without regular scrubbing..?
be interested to know what the panels thoughts are, as my boat is out of the water for a week, so an ideal opportunity to make some changes...
(current top speed is about 35 knots)

Im assuming Kad32's, top RPM 3700-3900 so not too far off, a set of A7s will drop RPM's by approx 200 so should be spot on for your s28, manual recomends cruise at 200rpm under WOT.

Coastal rides are doing some good deals at the moment on props, perhaps two sets of stainless C6's would be more suitable.

I'm sorry but I could not resist this.

Maybe ropecutters would be a better investment!!

Back to your original question, I myself would stay with the A6 props. I would not in the direction of stainless props.

Now stop these emails and get on with the polishing!

I've long suspected that you could eke another 2-3 knots out of the top end with a set of A7's BUT I've never tried it. Fairline Targa 30's are a similar weight, with twin KAD32's, and they are fitted with A7's as standard.

One downside might be that if heavily loaded up, or end-of-season-fouled, it might not leap onto the plane in the same way that it does with A6's. Another downside might be that the "minimum planing speed" could go up: this is not a good thing when it kicks up, as being able to maintain 15-16kts into a nasty chop is much better than 18-19kts or falling off the plane...

Anyone have a spare set of A7's knocking around that I can try /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

We have Kad32's & used to have A7s on a Targa 28 & it flew.

38knots no problem, fouling of the hull would pull it down durring the season to 36knots but accelleration never altered.

We had the chance of a set of C6's on a deal from Coastal rides, took the oppertunity as they were a bargain, we now get around 36knots flat out but she needs a lift & clean so we will be back to normal once shes been lifted & antifouled.

The A7's were only 18months old when we removed them, it suprised me how much blade wear there was, we did a part exchange for a bow thruster so no longer have them but the new owner had to have them refurbished before they were fitted, something the stainless will not need doing (hopefully).

The only thing you need to do after fitting stainless props is to keep an eye on the annodes, it's recomended to double the bar annode at the transom shield.
We fitted a galvanic issolator & changed to alluminium annodes instead of zinc which are supposed to last longer, will be able to tell after the next liftout.

I would try the A7's if you get chance as overreving the engine would be a concern, you will return better MPG with A7's into the bargain.
