Thinking of putting in to Rye on way to IOW. It doesn't look straight forward so any advice would be appreciated.

Boats a long Keeler drawing 1.4m

Also might go into Dover so with the current situation there will I get a visitors berth if I phone ahead?

Thanks in advance.

it is very pretty at HW, but that doesn’t last for long, it dries to nothing and you have to be prepared to dry out against a wall, unless you can get a mud berth in RockChannel. Sorry to be a misery, but it is hard work and will involve pushing the tide both in and out. Years ago before Eastbourne Marina opened it was busy, not these days, I think that that tells you something. I used to have boat there, but like many I have moved away.

Was based in Rye for several years

I'd bang on to Eastbourne. All points of tide access.

If you do decide to do it, Read the pilot. Call the HM.
Assume your boat handling skills are up to some confined navigation.

Time your entry just before HW. Also dictates your departure time.

Given the right weather you can anchor off Pett Levels. Have done that we we have arrived at the wrong point of the tide
