Rydlyme application to a Volvo D4? How??

Here is a video using a container / bilge pump and a few pieces of hose

Sorry to revive an old thread. Which hoses did you connect the inlet and outlet to on the engine in this video Andy? I want to do the same again now and having looked at the setup over the weekend I couldn't see which would be the obvious route to take. Did you find that it gave good results after treating the port engine on the F36?

Undo the outlet from raw water pump (top hose ) and connect return hose to tub / bucket , undo pipe to exhaust elbow and connect pumped side to that ( this will circulate in reverse to engine flow so any debris will get pushed back out ) . Helped to slightly reduce temps but done as maintenance rather than trying to cure overheating .

Hi all,

I do think it is now time to do a de-scale and have been looking at using Rydlyme to do the cleaning to the heat exchangers.

So, the question is has anyone done he same procedure to a D4(260) and can offer advise on how I should do the setup for connecting the circulating pump, hoses and Rydlyme tank to circulate the cleaner through the raw water system?

Cheers Kenny

Hi Kenny,

Here's how I did it to our Cummins: http://www.playdeau.com/descaling-the-heat-exchanger/
