Been 'invited' to be part of RYA Scotlands Float Your Boat Commonwealth Flotilla for the upcoming games in Glasgow. At first it looked like a good idea but then I clocked the price,£100 seems a bit step for staying at James Watt Dock.Might be wrong,do others think its good value and an 'opportunity of a lifetime' or am I just too cheap to take part!

Have you checked the RYA Scotland web site? Methinks there is an invite to food and ra bevy and two/ three nights in the Princes dock at the Science Centre for your wee bawbees. The pasage up river can be very interesting with plenty of wildlife to be seen, both the fowl and human kind.

It appears that the entry fee is just that, an entry fee. The food and bevy still have to be paid for at JWD in the sugar shed. Catering vans are being brought in. It's also my understanding that JWD Marina have no direct involvement in the event and that pontoons from the Southampton boat show are being brought in by the RYA to be sited under the Titan crane, the tugs being removed temporarily. How they hope to get crew on and off the pontoons is a mystery!

The main event should still be good fun.

The flotilla boats must depart by Monday latest.
