Hi,

I'm planning to take the RYA Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster shorebased evening course this winter, and was wondering if anyone has a spare copy of the "Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore Student Pack" (Code YMAP) they could supply me, which I'm told every student needs. The reason I would like to get this pack before the course starts is so I can do some revision and preparation beforehand.

Have you had a look at the shop on the RYA website? I believe they sell the training material.

Another suggestion is that you get a book on the subject and read that in preparation. Even just swatting up the ColRegs beforehand will give you a head start.

I don't think you can go far wrong with this disc. I think this disc is very good, but then my husband wrote it. Someone else on YBW agrees with me,

best if you just read the books and do some searching on net etc, don't go through the pack, If you do and get confused etc, the instructor will have to unravel the mess you have got yourself into.
Just do some reading etc. there is a good load of info on weather on the met office site and learn the day shapes and night lights of vessel, you can do yourself a favour with that.
