I have a bank of Rutcherson RC750 Rope Clutches which are very stiff and don't work properly. I should add that they've been very little used since new in 2006. I took them apart, cleaned and re-greased, which has improved them but they're still stiff and difficult to use. One problem i did find was that on some units the spring/ piston rod which controls the jaw was bent - since the Clutches are 2006 and have been little used this is a suprise. I straightened them as best i could, but have been unable to get a response from Navimo re spares. The sheets and halyards are all within the recommended diameter.
Has anyone had similar problems?

Not had the problem buy you can try Martin Leaning at Port Solent as he is an agent for them I believe. 02392 371157

I bought one for my previous boat - it was the only one at the time that you could use with an endless reefing line as you could take a couple of screws off, insert the line and screw up again. I happened to be in the chandlery when the Rutgerson rep was demonstrating it to the staff and I bought it on the spot. I also had problems with the spring rod bending and I returned it to the agent/distributor(can't remember who) and they repaired it free of charge. Worked fine after that and then sold the boat. Just checked and the agents are Plastimo - tel 08707514666 - complain and you may get them repaired FOC as I did.
