rust stains on GRP deck

Having cleaned the BBQ on the aft deck with a brillo pad(!) I now have lots of little rust spots on the deck, presumably from fragments of brillo pad that flew off and rusted away. Those on the smooth areas are easily polished off but those on the rough, grippy areas pose a problem. I have been advised that a wire brush can be used but am a little dubious. The input of any relevant experience would be appreciated.

Oxalic Acid, available in powder form on "that" site, removes rust leaves GRP looking new. Also good for hardwood cleaning.

If you have any try Cillit Bang Grime and Lime ... but word has it that the formulation has changed and it no longer removes rust stains
