Rust spots on GRP deck

It was a schoolboy error really - the old anchor chain was just too rusty and I didn't trust it any more, so I hauled it up on deck and replaced it with 30m of shiny new 8mm chain. But I forgot to wash the deck down properly with fresh water.

2 weeks later when I returned - little rust spots on the moulded deck, everywhere. Difficult to move - have tried the various products on board but none works. Has anyone got any idea what product and method I can use to take the spots away?

Advice gratefully received

A while ago, I acquired, and used, a free sample of International High Strengh Stain Remover. Worked a treat on stubborn rust stains. Declared ingredients are unpronouncable!

Not sure of the name - but most chandleries sell a grp deck cleaning liquid which is slightly viscous - you put it on, spread it around, leave for 10 minutes and then wash off - about £10 for a bottle and half does a 35 foot yacht - did it last week!

I agree with the suggestions to use oxalic acid or an oxalic acid based cleaner. I have a powder, made by or at least branded "Starbrite" I think. Wet the deck, sprinkle on the powder, leave for a few minutes then flush away. I've had it for years. Y10, I am sure would be just as effective

Your local swindlery will be pleased to relieve you of £10 for it. But it does work.
