Probably the world's best match racer has apparently been bought off by the Alinghi syndicate after their dispute.

The upshot is that he won't be on a boat for the next America's Cup.

What merit will the winning boat then have?

It is pants isn't it? It shoves the AC one step closer to the farcical nature of F1.

Of course it's rock star attitudes amongst individuals and teams that create these daft situations for themselves, but it's still a shame when a top event is denied top talent for such ridiculous reasons!

The press release says he won't race for another team in 2007 AC.

It doesn't say he can't race for Alinghi.

Door still open if the other boys don't make the grade ? Bertarelli keeping his options open by waiving his wallet ?
