running away to sea hits

Gypsy is right I think - hang onto property in the UK or somewhere - maybe downsize. You can cruise in almost anything and I never regretted getting a less expensive boat and hanging onto property... Rented it out - the expense of blue water cruising is not buying the boat - it is having an income to support you and the boat!

The article is called Travels with Peter Pan..A guy called Nils Bennich-Bjorkman who is 74 , built his own 21ft boat and cruises around the world on a shoestring.
Yachting Monthly, March 2006 issue.

The yachting personal columns have regular appeals from guys in search of lifedream sailing mates. Could be dodgy but could just be the ticket to happiness.

What we take is our problems. If we can't solve them at home we won't out voyaging. On the other hand, if we're pretty happy with ourselves (getting more to the point now) before we "sail off" then we will remain so.
