Can't wait, first time to france on my new yacht!
I am leaving southsea, maybe chichester when we go, is anyone sailing from that side of the solent? It's more fun if you can have a little race, plus safer 2.

Re: Runners and Riders - Scuttlebutt goes to Cherb

I have noticed that the proposed date coincides with the RORC Cherbourg race. I don't think that will cause a problem - and it may provide an opportunity for the more sporty members to race across /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Re: Runners and Riders - Scuttlebutt goes to Cherb

How many boats are likely to be in the race? Or more to the point, will there be a shortage of marina berths?

<hr width=100% size=1>It's frustrating when you know all the answers, but nobody bothers to ask you the questions.

I'd guess about 50 boats will compete - of which maybe half will stay on in Cherbourg on the Saturday night.

It won't be a problem for people who can moor on the finger pontoons

25th Sept sounds good for me also..still have to clear leave via the Company once date conf but should be OK..

Hope that several tonnes of Dfs in the aft cabin might sort that little weatherhelm issue.

I'm taking ours over in August for the first time (hopefully!). If I take her again for the weekend trip we will be going from Chichester. I'll see how we get on in August before definitely committing and offering crew space.

We'll be leaving from Portsmouth. Also first Channel crossing in new boat, Nich 35 (not actually new, but new to us!).

If it isn't too much trouble it would be really nice to know who'll be leaving from where - any chance of another column in your lovely table? I'll be leaving from Portsmouth BTW.
Cheers, DK

I am definitely up for it ,very keen to go ,if someone can offer me a berth.

September date is my strong preference.(wrong box is ticked for me Ken)I am definitely available then ,the October dates would be possible but more difficult for me to organize.

It seems a number of boats are going over for the first time (me included!), so would it be possible for those who wish to sail in company?
