I'm glad I don't have to go into London (or any other UK inner city) too often these days because everywhere you go there's road rage, pavement rage, shouting rage, swearing rage...you get the picture?

Why are people so downright rude and inconsiderate these days?

It is a great relief to set off for a cruise up the East Coast to meet pleasant like- minded yachties who can talk sensibly without swearing and can enjoy their beer in enjoyable pubs without getting totally rat-arsed and turning into a raging moron. OK, you get a few fools who might get involved in marina rage, rules of the sea rage and downright nastiness but thankfully 99.9 per cent of the sailing fraternity are resisting the urge to slip into the depths of yobbishness. Long may it continue.

Thank you

cheers

Your most welcome, my good man. And may I say what a great pleasure it was reading your post.

See, us Londoners know how to be bleedin' polite, if we make the effort.

Thank you Ken

always a pleasure to correspond with you.

Perhaps we could have a pint of Adnams at some fine East Coast hostelry one of these days?

Ipswich?

Got a pal down there with a boat he's just recommissioned and he wants to do a shakedown sail before moving it to the Solent. If it fits in time-wise, I'll be down there to pull a few strings.

Re: Rudeness to Old Gaffers

I fear that the situation may be exactly the same as it always was. BUT - we are all getting older. And i am sorry to say that this is a key factor affecting your observations. Who, in their youth, for example, did not boot the foopball into the garden belonging to the old gimmer who demanded an apology before giving it back? And not having an apology or knowing what he was on about, we had to go and find another ball. I know i did. Now, on the East Coast none of this applies, cos everyone is very old indeed, and the are a little strange so perhaps they eat their children or get rid of them like in Great Expectations, hence the casual observation that all are polite, when in fact there no young people to wind them up and break things.

Also, I think ratarsed is not hyphenated these days.

hope this helps
