Rudder shaft O Ring

I removed my skeg supported rudder for general inspection and find that I need to replace the O Ring at shaft exit location just over water level at top of the skeg. The old ring has some slight wear on the inner circumference. Not sure what material to use... It will be be exposed to grease and intermittent seawater but no loading. Any advice appreciated.

Nitrile or neoprene. Either is resistant to hydrocarbons and water to some extent. Nitrile better for grease but neoprene better for water. Bilge pump diaphragms, gaskets and valves are usually nitrile.
