Here is a snap of a rudder I may need to inspect and repair:

Looking at the design, can anyone with experience hazard a guess how it might be constructed? I think it was common on some 26 foot ish Dufour / Gibsea maybe Kelt boats. It has been described as splitting at the seams (along the edges I guess) and looks like someone has tried a rough fix with GRP tape.
Could it be solid timber with a GRP sheath? Forwarned is forearmed. Thanks.
