The collar on the cast iron bar at the bottom of my boat is worn where the rudder pin goes in and therefore the rudder wobbles around. What would be the best way to fix this problem. I was thinking about inserting some sort of a packer on inner collar into the existing collar to tighten the whole thing up but am not sure how to go about it, in repect of attaching to the existing collar. Maybe someone else out there has had the same problem and has resolved it. Any Ideas?

If you search through the literature availailable from the epoxy makers WEST, there is a description of how to cast an epoxy bush in situ. This might be a method worth considering.

Unlikely (but not impossible) to be cast iron. I have a similar arrangement but with a bronze casting. although the bronze would provide a bearing surface, I had a bush made out of Delrin. No wear after 17 years and the spare I had made at the same time is still in my workshop.

To fit a bush you will need to take the fitting off and have it bored out.
