Rudder problems......

its odd that the rudder could not be taken off, and then a jury rudder of some sort used. is this a wheel or tiller boat (presumably wheel)? there must be a pretty good reason why they could not fix it, i guess we'll hear the full story in time.

so where's the boat now then...
 
floating round the Atlantic with a note on board for whoever bumps into it..... I thought they should have scuppered her but, in the heat of the moment, after 40 days drifting, who knows what we would do.
 
It's not that far off Bermuda, so a good chance of it being salvaged.

Looking at the picture in the MoS, it would be difficult to get to the rudder with the sugar scoop, and it could have been hit by a whale, or a jammed quadrant.

Let's wait and find out what happened, when they get home.

At least they are safe, as they stayed on their best liferaft - the boat.
