Rudder leak seal

That is for oil filled rudders. Won't do any good on the type of rudder you recently posted about!

Well so much more to know. Why fill a rudder with oil? Buoyancy and corrosion inhibition?

You have a good memory if you recall my rudder posts

Common to fill hollow steel rudders with oil to stop rust. The arrangement shown in the advert is not something I have seen before, but seems to have a gearbox and prop in it. Probably some commercial application where leaks are a problem. Never seen anything like it on a yacht where hollow steel rudders are usually welded up with a filler plug and a drain so no need for seals.
