Im thinking of removing the rubber rubbing strip on my bradwell 18 to clean it underneath and get at the deckwork for crack filling and painting.

Questions, a) does it go back on ok or will it be so old and brittle it will be buggered? and b) I presume I could get a replacement from the likes of sealsdirect, any tips on measuring and describing it to make sure I get the correct profile back if I ordered a new one? Thanks.

Hey Steve, a few years ago I replaced the rubbing strip on a wayfarer with heavy duty reinforced hose. Worked out at a fraction of the cost of "d" profile and as far as I know it's still going strong.
The original on mine had a metal (possibly brass) stiffening strip inside... We nearly lost the will to live getting the stiffener into the hose & then lining up the holes was a total pita. The memory of the time lost is enough for me to recommend that you buy the right profile. Then again, if the one you remove has a similar stiffener you're going to have to get it all in place & the holes located anyway so maybe reinforced house is the way to go.
Either way don't come crying to me when it all goes horribly wrong :)
