Just about to bolt new wood -oak topped with larch and then finish and hide bolt heads with iroko. My question is do I glue the wood as laminates or fix with Sikaflex. I shall also fix all with bronze screws. I have been a pretend chippie (hobby) and use a superb glue (poly) called Wudcare which is SALT WATER PROOF. The wood that has been glued with this will break before the joint pulls apart ( never had any problem) and it is a reasonable price as opposed to swindelery.

If you are confident with your favourite glue do you really need to bolt or screw as well? If you cannot get a clamp on to the piece which you are gluing, then screws may be necessary, but otherwise they may not. It also depends upon the service which the component is going to see and how critical it is to the safety of the boat.
Peter.
