We've got two small areas on deck where the GRP meets the corner of a wooden coaming, and water always sits there no matter what I do. The joint is sealed with Sikaflex, and the wood is epoxy coated, but has in spite of this begun to discolour underneath. Rather than just re-epoxying, I wondered about using a thick rubberised paint as a small rectangular patch on the corner? This may give a) better water-proofing of the wood, and b) look better. I'm sure I've seen this sort of stuff around, and one that dries to a non-tack rubber film (not a sticky bitumen like roofers use). I've thought about diluting Sikaflex with a solvent and paint it on, but I'm sure there are better solutions out there. Can anyone help?

You can buy rubberised paint that you can walk on, I have just done a flat concrete roof with the stuff. It goes on with a brush just like emulsion paint, but it dries as a rubber film, not tacky at all to touch. Very good stuff, must be clean and free from dust when painting on.
You must be able to buy it from a uk builders merchant.

Been trying to remember the name of the paint, for two days!!

Chlorinated rubber paint! Available in building merchants.
