Rubber duck kiting

Got a power kite onboard for beach based fun - you've set the cogs turning now!!

Jonny

p.s. It works a treat with a go kart on the beach - so don't see why it wouldn't work - how to get back upwind though - hmmmm (might not dump the outboard completely!)

Thought the pile moorings in Yarmouth had gone?

Anyway, even better in that situation would be the delivery power kite, use the kite to lift the warp to a shoreside cleat and haul yersell across, reposition the anchor, aerial photos from a suspended camera .. the potential uses of the power kite .. jings the sky's the limit!

[/ QUOTE ] Some, but not all. It really is time you re-acquainted yourself with the Solent, Jimi!

However, most of the visitors' piles at Bucklers Hard are no more, sadly. Harumph!

Dont let a few facts get in the way of a good story.

Many years ago whilst running a power kite distribution business we tried a few speed runs in Weymouth harbour, an old Dart a big kite and two of us aboard to steer kite and steer boat.

It ended spectacularly, after we got air borne we found the boats rudders were less than effective, the chase rib was well behind us doing 30knts. Too much lift seemed to be the problem!

It could be a very good way to get ashore and park the avon in the upright stack at the yacht club all in one manouvre.
