Just spotted the results. Nick came in 4 minutes before the 10:00pm deadline so WELL DONE Nick and Karen.

(Meanwhile we sailed out of Denia; popped the yacht round to Javea Bay to anchor; lots of topless, nice lunch, a bit of swimming, and then a nice sail back - all in temperatures of the mid nineties) /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks Steve !! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif We didn't trouble the prize giving ceremony, but just finishing with only 4 minutes to go was a celebration in itself. Karen didn't come because she couldn't bear the thought of seeing the boat get damaged. I took an experience YM cousin and two competent crew who had not been out of the Solent before.

See this thread for a full account.

Last time I did it on an old gaffer the max elapsed time was 13:30:00 which is exactly what our elapsed time was! Didn't realise as there were a lot of boats behind us- they were subsequently time expired.

We turned at the recommeded 250metres off, seeing the CG post above the light house etc. we had reasonably clear air, and plenty of space at this point. No close encounters at all. It was off Yarmouth where the fun and games took place. Everybody converging towards Hurst and very little steerage. Had to back the genoa twice just to keep our nose pointing in the right direction!

Great day out, definitely do it again.
