Beaten on all counts by a 21 ft junk rigged Splinter in the same class

Beaten by many, many other boats, but what does that matter? Lots of fun had and a great day's sailing all round. :) That Splinter took off like an absolute rocket on the reaches from Cowes to St Catherines - very impressed.

Dylan's more than welcome to refer to the boat as clapped out. It's also been referred to as "grubby" and "crusty" this weekend... all fairly fitting. I have to say - it wasn't quite £500 cheap but it was plenty cheap enough that I will happily fit new winches, rigging and ropes over the coming months without feeling like I've spent much.

By the way Joseph the Hurley Owners has a wesite with a for sale section, there is always 22 stuff on there,no membership needed. Goggle HOA,cheers Jerry. (H24,N France going Belgium)

Well done, somehow getting round in a Hurley seems more of an achievement to me than many of the front runners. Did in my Trident 24 20+ years ago and since over 10 times in faster boats, not sure what it would take to make me want to do it again, Pies? Probably not, but the prospect of a breakfast did get me to fortVictoria at 5.30am to watch them go past.

My mate did it in his Hurley 20 this year.. picked up the Trident Cup for his efforts - I'd be absolutely chuffed to nuts, but fancy beating someone just before the finish line - how gutted would you be?? :D
