If you know (or are) the skipper of Rozella of Swansea - out in the Solent today ... can you let them know that it is ppl like him who give mobos a bad name.

Just off Gilkicker Point - Planning up behind us in a direct line for our stern only altering course within 50-60 yards and passing by just over a boatlength from us is not big, it isn't clever and it is blummin dangerous. SWMBO thought we were going to have visitors onboard. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif There was LOADS of water around us, but Rozella wouldn't alter from her course to take a suitable path around us like all the other motorboats did (thanks!).

We had a cat do something similar to us yesterday - we were anchored and fishing in a bay close to shore and close to 2 other anchored mobos and one yacht. Granted, he wasn't going at speed but he was single handed and heading straight for us. I couldn't even see him from where I was - his sails were in the way. He altered course close enough for me to be really uncomfortable and wanting to start shouting, waving etc ( maybe 2 boat lengths away). I hadn't noticed him until he was very close - being a yacht there was little noise. I didn't get his name - too busy worrying about the fact he was on a collision course and had no look out. Not nice. Later on in the day we and friends had tied up minutes before a 20 ish foot mobo came past, not quite on the plane and at the same time as the ferry. I'd never seen the boat rocked so much and still can't believe she wasn't damaged. Just behid us was a smaller speed boat, also tied up but with 2 young kids on board. Unfortunately Arny ( a fellow forumite)now has lacerations to both his calves, a broken foot and spent time last night in A & E being fed morphine for pain. I agree - not big nor clever - neither the mobo nor the cat. And I'm a mober.

My first boat was Rozelle of Swansea, bought second hand, a Rinker 250 cruiser, then appeared a Bav hard top by the same name, then something else. Essex boatyards have just sold the hard top but still have two more boats of the same name. So to sum up, someone in Swansea who likes the name Rozelle seems to buy a new boat about every six months, And your dodgy driver could be anybody that bought one of his cast offs. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Typical .... ah well - I just hope the plonker who was in charge of this vessel reads this and realises what he did.

On the Crouch on sunday, a large very posh planing boat came up behiend us very quickly, but then they dropped their speed and came passed only a few knots quicker. i was quite impressed that they bothered (although a few feet further away would have been nice).

Even then the wash was enough to make us roll quite a bit and the mother-in-law spilt her g&t... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
