I'm thinking of a weekend trip from Titchmarsh to Lowestoft and back over the weekend of 11th/12 August but I see that the RNSYC has a regatta that weekend. Anyone know whether I'd be likely to get a berth if I arrive early evening with a 10m yacht? If not, what are the alternatives given my draft is 1.8m?
All advice gratefully received.

If you come up to Lowestoft, try the Lowestoft Haven Marina, mostly always plenty of berths and situated just beyond the Bascule bridge about 8 cables. Know it well cos I live there!!!!!

I would imagine you may struggle to get a berth at the RNSYC on a weekend as it is usually full of cloggies.

RNSYC are not, in my experience, very welcoming... If you do get a berth it won't be very comfy, either...

Phone them and ask, 01502-566726. Thay are welcoming, though space can be short. Perhaps try them first and if no room go on to Lowestoft Haven. The problem with the latter is waiting for the bridge to open, approx every 2 hours.

Have to disagree, I've only been there once but very friendly and very comfy both on the boat and in the bar

I've only been there once but I agree that they were very welcoming (hence my plan to return). I recall that it was very crowded. I tried to contact the club by e-mail and phone but got no answer. I'll probably call RNSYC on the way in and, if they're full head straight for the bridge.

Also have to disagree.
First time I went in there sopping wet, I met Dougie Three Bottles. Top meeter & greeter for the Club. Think I ended buying the drinks though?
