I know we all have a regular moan here about this subject but there does appear to be some effort to improve matters.

How many of us know about this Code of Practice for rowers or the fact that they are even giving Annual Prizes for the best rowing clubs?

Guess it behoves us to read the Code and gain a better understanding of how the rowboats should behave as well as the meaning of those red can buoys above Kew?

There's even a reporting system now for incidents involving rowers AND they are asking non-rowers to use it -
TRRC Online Reporting System

Tee Hee .....

I'll let the RNLI know ... does B know what she is in for ? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Plenty of wind and rain forecast for tomorow afternoon fella.

Never had a problem myself, even the dreaded tideway rowers didn't utter a word as I went past recently. Maybe being an ex rower helps but I think some peeps do seem to ask for trouble with their boats "body language".

Ok left Teddington at bout 1pm today went down stream all the way to Tower Bridge and back and did not see one rower not even one!!!

In fact did not see much I have never known rain like it!

I took the tides wrong but only draw 1 foot so does not mater BUT the river was completely empty, noting whatsoever felt quite eerie until blackfriars.

But hey that meant I could average 24 knots all the way!

Wrong! Maidenhead Regatta was held today, but it was on Dorney Lake so they did not interfere with river traffic. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Now i posted a few weeks ago about a speed limit and was told 12 Knots max /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

agreed and i stuck to no knots until Putney, the rain was so bad i could not see!, but then the police launch over took us at about 20 knots so I said bucket and floored it....

But only 14 foot long and no wash so I felt no guilt however bridge works and small canoes i slowed for.. why in gods name would you want to canoe through central london!

Defo agree with that! We got waved and shouted at to slow down on friday morning going downstream from teddington, but at a speed of 3 knots! If i went any slower, the tide would be sending me back upstream!
