diagnosed with terminal cancer she left and went with her family three young boys and husband around the world on a 38foot sail boat for four years. what an inspiration to her children and the people that think certain things are so so important when in fact it is life and family that count. how many people are so busy working that they miss out on their family i dont have children but i can imagine the hamster wheel consuming your life so much that one day your child is saying when you are dying i wish i could have had more time with you. but it was too late the time had come. this happened to me in my life. she came back wrote a book about it had all those precious memories to leave behind with her family and then she died. so very sad
a lesson they learned was. to the world you may be only one person but to one person you can be the world. so very true. i have been inspired. this will change my 2008 i guarantee it.

If you wander why there are not loads of replies it is a forum issue, in that none of us dare say what we think about how much the children gained in their 4 years at sea and how much they lost in their 4 years away.
Keeping kids amused storm bound in Weymouth for two days is hard enough /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
This forum is not what it used to be, how many others would have replied to this a year ago and now dont want the hassle that accompanies honest answers ?

Women and kids dont like sailing, too many hours doing nothing, how often do to see women and kids on board, occasional grandchildren for an hour or two *
I cant help but think they would have had a more enjoyable time on a Flybridge hopping round parts of America, I guess being stuck in the middle of the ocean there was a lack of stinkers to complain at so they would get at each other .
* boat shows excluded and before you mention Ellen McCarthy that is very different in that she has been helped to sail a mans high performance race boat not a cruiser .
