So, who here is doing Round the Island this weekend? We are in our Sigma 33, well hoping to top up the tan anyway /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif not sure whether there will be enough wind to do much else!

Early start for me too...

I'm thinking of passing on this one due to the wind, or lack of it.

We are booked into Yarmouth for the Old Gaffers for the Friday - Sunday so well have a relaxing sail over there from Chi Friday.

Think I'll spend Saturday relaxing in Yarmouth.

Also I'll need to cough up £100 for the insurance if I do do it.

Out there coaxing a Big Bav around. Not my idea of bliss if it's going to be harder work keeping going than last weekend's F7 - in which it did surprisingly well, no probs.
Better stop Bavaria-bashing methinks!
Watch this space.

yep we are up for it - as long as the boat goes back in the water OK this morning.

Lifted out Wednesday, all annual maintenance performed, fresh coat of antifoul and back afloat in 48 hours.

so the rest of you will only get to see our transom /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Re: Round the Island re Talbot

Good luck. I gave up the RTI a few years ago. Got fed up starting first and finishing near last ! I am out this weekend so may well go towards the Needles if the fleet is still around.

Re: Round the Island re Talbot

When it was sponsored by HOYA we used to sail the course the other way round - we called it the AHOY race - great fun going through the fleet on starboard - or better still heaving to on staboard and lunching as they sweated by.
Will wave at you all tomorrow as not doing it this year. The 720 deg (non penalty) turn at Hurst afforded some amusement last year.
Have a good one

Re: Round the Island re Talbot

Year before last I managed it in 10 hrs 40 min (true) and last year I got top the delayed start and pirouetted round 360 degrees without mving forward and saod bother and went and had lunch in Newton Creek /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I rather suspect this year will be like last, but I dont bother doing an official entry so dont feel constrained to partake if I am not going to enjoy myself. I reckon all these racing types have reduced the fun for the people it was designed for - those cruising blokes who dont know the racing rules and wouldnt normally dream of doing a race. (Bit like the ARC)
