Decided to go and take a look at the start line for this years race at the weekend.

It looks to me that the line is set much further east than last year. I seem to remember it being slightly west of true north on previous years. At the weekend it was lining up about 11 degrees east of true north - in fact it seems to run straight over brambles bank.

Has any other saddo taken a look? and can they confirm/deny my observation?

How did you check the line?

The rear marker for the transit (the diamond on the castle) moves - if you checked that this weekend it was probably set up for the start of a different race - hence a different line.

I think from memory that the start this year is the same as last.

That'll be the reason then. I took a couple of transits on the line on Sunday by marking them on my GPS.

Thanks for the info.

True,

My plan this year is to start with the class half an hour before mine, I'm sure no one will notice :)
