will I be the last one home if I enter in a Barbary ketch motorsailor? when i looked at the entry list there was a westerly centaur which I might give a bit of competition. We might be OK if there wasn`t too much to windward and the wind was just too strong for lighter boat`s spinnys, or is it wishfull thinking and I should go to the Folly as it might be quiet on RTI day, or is that more wishfull thinking!!
Go for it! Firstly, wherever you are in the fleet, you'll enjoy your own private race. Secondly, we only saw one other ketch in last year's race - we need the moral support! Thirdly, the Folly was bedlam last year, both before and after the race, so peace and quiet wasn't an option.
Hello John and welcome to the forum. Nice to see another Wicor Marine boat on here, there are at least 3 of us now.
We tend to go to Chichester on RTI race day and keep out of the way. Have done the race several times as crew on racing boats but never in my own boat. I expect SWMBO would have a screaming fit half way down the first beat. I'm tempted by the pot hunting though. The Sadler association prize for 29s has gone unclaimed several times.
If you look at the RTI website, thats us doing RTI last year, cant miss us we're the blue kite. We'll be there racing again this year, we're a J109.
Fingures crossed for as good as a result, or even better, as last year, we went round in a corrected time of 06:59:45 which put us 3rd in IRC4. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I'm tempted, but I'm crewing this year. I reckon with a Snapdragon 24 and no spinny, if I finish before the cutoff, I'll be overall winner on handicap /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
We'll be there again but will be keeping away from classic yachts this year. Last year we were that boat that tried to take out Lively Lady but came off significantly worse from the encounter.
