now I know its not the isle of Wigit but its far enough for us, our annual round St Mary's race was held yesterday and as usual the only thing missing was the wind. The Turk's head pub was overrun and it turned into the normal good social event that it is and amazingly I even won a mug. The hangover should wear off by eleven I hope.

Fascinating! Off the Lizard and around Falmouth, for once, we had a beautiful, all-day long breeze. As the forecast!

We've had lots of instances lately when breeze/wind has been very patchy - doesn't seem to be related to sea breeze although I might be wrong (as if!).

Only excitement of the superb sail was listening to RNLI pulling UFO34 off the rocks at Nare Point on a falling tide.

Says ILB to Lifeboat (both on scene) "same place as two weeks ago"

Local boat too, you'd think he'd know the lumpy bits by now!

Was that rescue last night (sunday) about 6ish. I heard the coastguard / lifeboat going to a boat but couldn't make out exactly where & the problem. They had someone volunteer to help the lifeboat as he was 9mins away, would take some crew back as he knew them.... turned down and told to leave the lifeboat to do their job.... they were only going to take the crew off and tow the boat back in.

Yup - that's the one.

Yacht "Chumba" stuck on rocks. "Annabelle Lee" also offered to take crew back to Helford as they were all known etc. One of the Falmouth Week safety boats offered help but to be fair to the RNLI, a) they were first to arrive in the ILB and b) I suspect that they were more experienced at this sort of thing and c) they had launched both the ILB and the Lifeboat, so they might as well be left to finish the job.

The ILB was stunning. Almost immediately after the Mayday was called it came steaming out from Pendennis and it was hardly much later that the Lifeboat came out as well.

Extremely reassuring and rapid response in my opinion.
