Hopefully there'll be a bit of a breeze this weekend and we'll actually get some shore time cos the race is 180 miles and we're bringing boat back on Monday. This bar, it's not the local gay bar or anything like that? Just going on your 'history' /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for that. Much better than last weekend when we were on the last knockings of the race and the boat speed dropped to 2 knots with the tide about to turn against us. Opted for a DNF.
Fortunately the race is one way so we can always resort to the cast iron sail for the return leg.

Re: The Yacht Clubs OK

Watch out for the dog in the neck scarf. It's a leg humper. That amuses the locals greatly. Scheveningen is a nice town but a bit stark. The harbour and resort are about a 20 minute walk apart. Around the harbour is a mixture of commercial and leisure business's. Plenty of bars and restaurants. There's a supermarket handy for the marina. The prefab bars on the quayside are a rough and ready. My favorite puts rugs on the tables for the dogs to sit on. There's also the most comprehensive outdoor equipment shop I've ever been in. It's over near the old warship.

A NW wind is a bit of a trial for the home trip. I took 37 hours to get home once. It looked for a while like we'd end up in Hartlepool.

No idea about the weather but another bar which you cant miss as you have to pass it when walking from the harbour to the beach is the Hart Bar...
I used to live above it so have fond memories of too many Hoegardens.....and freezing bits off surfing there in the winter.
