As I was leaving my berth Firday evening the port engine stopped when I engaged forward gear. Started and then stopped again. Got out on to the river, turned everything off and then tried again to no avail. Starting seeing £ signs!
Went down to the boat on Sunday, lifted the offending leg, jumped in and found a massive ball of rope attached to the twin props. Managed to hack some of the rope off and then gave up when I could not reach the rope under the props without going fully under water.
So motored along the Thames on just the one engine. As I turned round and engaged reverse on the starboard engine, that decided to stop. Oh great! Half way home decided to try the port engine and hey ho that now worked. Guess the rope had moved from one leg to the other.
Once I had moored up and back in my berth, I read the manaul, which showing how to fully lift the leg and so the rope was removed in seconds.
Morale of the story - always keep a pair of trunks on board!
