Hello,

I'm looking for a Lagoon 450 owner who has been able to install the Ambassador UK Robe-cutters on the SD60, based on recent Yanmar Yanmar 4JH57 and 3 blades folded propeller (Flex-o-fold).

It should be possible ... unless the space between the SD body and the flex prop is to small.

thank you for your help

WElcome.

No problem. The cutter fits within the modified anode. You just need to have the drive holes drilled in the back of the prop. Any problems just call Robin Shaw at Ambassador.

I've got a feeling that when I ordered my 2-blade Flex-o-Folds for my SD20 saildrives I had to specify whether I wanted the prop version that was compatible with a rope-cutter or not. I ordered the non-rope-cutter version but assumed that my version had a longer hub or something. However, this was only supposition on my part and might only apply to the 2-blade folders with the SD20

There is no difference in the propellers other than the holes drilled for the drive pegs. This is not done at the factory but at the dealers or installer. Mine was done by Darglow. Nothing difficult about fitting Strippers to Yanmar or Volvo saildrives. Literally thousands in use with all sorts of propellers. Instructions for modifying specific propellers included with the kit.

So if I ever decided to fit a cutter I just need to drill these holes in my existing hub? That's good to know as I might fit a stripper one day if I ever feel the need.

Yes, dead simple to do. The dimensions for the holes are in the fitting instructions which you can see on the website.

Thank you for the info.
I'm wondering if there is a size difference between the folded prop used for the L450 on the SD60, and the one used on the L42, or 52.
It looks like the 57HP Yanmar (4JH57) is mid-range for the SD60 and the folded prop would also be mid size.

In any case, would love to see an Ambassador rope-cutter picture on the SD60 on L450 folded props.

The SD 50 used a 4 screw mounting to attach the zinc requiring the prop to be removed to change the Zinc whereas the SD60 uses 2 adapter plates to allow a split zinc to be fitted.
Unfortunately the Ambassador uses the same hole modified to mount the anvil pin so you used the SD 50 round zinc for both drives
